Flash News!! Monday March 29, 2004 Silent Running SR 1000 gets coveted U.S. Coast Guard approval
World’s first U.S. Coast Guard approved sound dampening product for the marine industry being launched nationally by Current Composites.
East Haven, CT, March 29 /PRNewswire/ - Current Composites announced today that their Silent Running SR 1000 Marine Coating, a liquid sound dampening product, received U.S. Coast Guard approval for use in all marine applications.
“This is a significant accomplishment since all existing sound dampening products that are used in the marine industry today do not meet the stringent USCG requirements for fire, smoke, and toxicity,” said Current Composites Chairman and CEO Brian Prinz. “This approval, along with the ease of use of Silent Running, gives a compelling new choice for boat owners and manufacturers to eliminate unwanted sound and vibration problems”.
Silent Running is a liquid coating that utilizes a space-age viscoelastic polymer system that virtually eliminates unwanted vibration and sound problems. The coating absorbs vibration, the root cause of unwanted noise, and converts it into low-grade heat which is then dissipated throughout the applied surface.
Silent Running has its European Type Approval as well.
